In Loving Memory of Daphne Mune Soleil
Born February 20th, 2000, She moved in, and was only a month old. She was introduced to me as Kalileia, I cringed and decided that this name did not suit her. As my sister had a graycat named David, and I figured that Daphne could be a female variation of David, we decided to call her Daphne. When she was 2 months old, it was time to find her a home. Many people were offering a safe haven for her, but we just couldn't decide who should get her. When she was 2 1/2 months old, I cracked. I begged and pleaded to Fox to let me keep her. After much ado, he said he would think about it, and I said no more about her for a month, when all of a sudden, he turned to me while watching TV and said Yes. "Yes what? What are you talking about?" I asked, and he replied "Daphne" and then it all sunk in. There was much rejoicing.
July, 2002. We were preparing to leave for the evening, just as we usually did. Daphne was napping in the sun, lying on the pillow of my parent's spare room bed. We had been living here 3 months, and Daphne seemed really happy. There was lots of stairs to run up and down, more playmates and nice window sills to sit in. I kissed her bye-bye on the forehead, and we left to play our usual game of D&D. When we came home, she was not at the window waiting for us, as she normally does, no matter, it didn't seem to odd at that time. Through the night, there had been bo sign of her so I got up to take a look around the house. Nothing, well, she could just be hiding. By the time day rolled in, and it was late afternoon, there could be only one reason for this odd behaviour. Daphne was gone. We do not know how she got out of the house for sure, but it seems a door must have been left open and unattended for long enough. We looked and looke for a couple of weeks, but found no sign of her.. I can only hope she found a new home and is living happily.
